Roger W. Hurst, 57, of Indianapolis, IN passed away Monday, March 4, 2019 at Franciscan Health in Indianapolis, IN. He was born October 17, 1961 in Indianapolis, IN to John Drake Hurst and Sue Annette (LeFever) Hurst. He married Denise M. (Duncan) Hurst on May 16, 1987 in Greenwood, IN, she survives.
Roger was a 1980 graduate of Franklin Central High School in Indianapolis, IN. He had been a welder and fabricator for Major Tool and Machine in Indianapolis for 38 years. He enjoyed volunteering at the Perry Township Football League, going to opening day of the horse races at Indiana Grand Casino, and spending time with his family, and especially his grandson Drake.
Survivors include his wife Denise M. (Duncan) Hurst of Indianapolis, IN; three daughters Jan I. Hurst, Joni L. Hurst, and Jodie A. Hurst all of Indianapolis, IN; a grandson Drake Withers; and a brother Paul Hurst of Bloomington, IN.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Jeff Sego will conduct a service on Friday, March 8, 2019 at 10:30 A.M. at Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center, 300 South U.S. 31 (Morton Street) in Franklin, IN. Friends may call Thursday, March 7, 2019 from 4-8 PM at the mortuary. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin, IN. I never got to know Roger, but I know he was very loved by his daughter Joni. Knowing he raised such a wonderful person speaks volumes on how good of a father he was. My deepest sympathies and prayers go out to his entire family in this time of sorrow. -Bill Moorehead
